Well it’s Wednesday so that
can only mean one thing …it’s WOYWW time! Yipee!
Welcome and Happy WOYWW to
you… no I’m not going nuts..mmm actually that’s probably debatable LOL. If you
don’t know WOYWW = 'Whats On Your Work-desk Wednesday' = lots of blog hopping fun by folk from all around the world. All this fabulous fun is wonderfully organised by the lovely Julia over at
Stamping Ground so for more info and to join in, do check them out.
so... what's on my desk?
so... what's on my desk?
So on my main desk I have a
couple of finished cards(including the ‘wishing you well’ started last week, made with the stamped bits I sorted out a few weeks
ago. The fairy one is almost finished.
I used my Martha Stewart punches on some patterned paper for the borders and found matching colours in my promarkers to colour the images, and added a little peach colour glitter glue on fairy and flowers. The stamped butterflies lying to the side of the card, I added antennae to and a bit of metallic wax over top – but I can’t decide if they would work on the card – have laid them on it in other photo below

..... so what do you think, add them or leave them off ?
On my cupboard top that I craft
on, is a project being worked on for the alcohol challenge over at ‘Artful Times’ blog.
I inked the back of one of the printable acetate sheets I designed a few weeks back. There's some grungy flowers drying on the left, (painted over them with copper acrylic paint) they still need working
on and will be added to frame with some other bits…more on that another time.
So that’s it for now – I’ll
be off trying to visit as many of your blogs as possible now.
Thanks for stopping by and any comments left are much appreciated.
Have a good day……. Gill x
Gill: Such an adorable Fairie card! Fun background and pretty butterflies! Your alcohol piece is coming along great! Such a fun background (and adorable picture!!) Enjoy your day! Winnie#78
ReplyDeleteI think you should add them, they look fab :o) Gorgeous card Gill, the butterflies look super and I love the colours. The flowers with the acrylic paint are looking great and LOVE your alcohol ink project. Lots going on this week - have a Happy Easter Heather x
ReplyDeleteI love the butterflies and the sentiment on your card is FAB. BJ#67
ReplyDeleteDon't add the butterflies Gil... they are too big and take of the eye from the wonderful and delicate fairy. Ha, I see Heather disagrees... well, it's up to you then! Happy woyww and happy Easter. Keep on Rollin' ;) Marit #85
ReplyDeleteTry adding one or add them both. They give depth to the card.
ReplyDeleteLove the centre one down the left - so bright and beery.
Thanks for visiting me - Happy Easter and Happy WOYWW - Hugs, Neet xx 1
Hi Gill, you could always compromise and just add the left one.....there I am sitting on the fence again. Despite your dilemma though the card itself is beautiful and I do love a butterfly! Happy WOYWW Gill, Anne x #33
ReplyDeleteMorning Gill, go for it, I would add them. Lovely card with or without.

Hi Gill, love your cards but most of all that layout for the alcohol ink challenge looks just stunning.

Hi Gill, came back to say that when we watched the lady demo the Inktense at the NEC she drew a picture onto silk and then gently wet the same lines of the picture with a paint brush. She said that after it had tried it would then be waterproof. She did say that it would work on other fabric too. If you have not tried that method it might work. Hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne, I shall try that and try some other fabric too. Gill x
DeleteYour work is beautiful. I love that fairy card. happy crafting..#98

Hi Gill, I would definitly leave the butterflies on, I think they look lovely. (My DH is looking over my shoulder and he likes clean and simple so he is saying leave them off) sorry! now we have not helped you decide. I love your alchohol challenge piece but then as you know I love your images you did a few weeks ago, they all look amazing when you have used them in your projects. Thanks for your visit earlier and have a great day. Hugs Mo x #62
ReplyDeleteHa, it's fun to read all the opinions above ... sounds like a draw and you'll have to go with your gut. Just to add my two cents: I think when they are off, your eye is drawn to the fairy; when they are on, your eye is drawn to the butterflies. So it depends on what you want the focus pocus of this particular card to be. Either way, it is a STUNNING card!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by at early o'clock (my time) to see me! Have a wonderful
week to come! Darnell #43
We really like the flutterby card so are voting for on, that's the result from the bear jury! :) We have some printable acetate so are off to try alcohol inks on it. Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for your earlier visit too,
ReplyDeleteHi Gill, I'm still giggling over the Yellow Yacht! Don't actually have one, but at one point last year, with all the rain, Beloved Hubby did say he was considering building an Ark!I will be smiling at that all night. Love the fairy card, and anything looks great with a butterfly attached, and those are particularly beautiful. Have a great week, Hugs Shaz #144xx
ReplyDeleteHi Gill

Wishing you a very Happy Easter and a great day today
Ria
I'm no help at all because I like them with AND without! Such a pretty little set of images.
ReplyDeleteHi Gill I'm going WITH butterflies - your card is so pretty, and you already know I LOVE your inky acetates! Have a great week and thank you for your visit MMx #141
ReplyDeleteHi Gill,
ReplyDeleteLove the card, fairies are a bit favourite of mine. Id say add the butterflies they finish it off beautifully.
have a good week

Your card is beautiful, Gill. I'd go with the butterflies too.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with all your inks.
Happy WOYWW

Card is lovely. I think without. They are almost too heavy for the delicate image. The only alternative would be if you did them in a iridescent instead of the darker tone. As is, I think it's too much weight.
ReplyDeleteAnxious to see if you're tallying and what you come up with. Creative Blessings! Kelly #158
I think they're great, leave them on! It looks like you're having fun with your inks! Just noticed your owl picture, (can't find it now, think it must be in your profile,) It's fabulous! Have a great weekend, Happy Easter! Happy WOYWW!!

Love seeing your work Gill....it's always spot on. I'm not familiar with metallic wax, but it sounds like lots of fun. In the midst of all our family drama I went on a little shopping spree, er uh, trip and picked up several new things to experiment with. Hope they come out as well as your butterflies did, although I rather like the card without the darker element. Have a great week....

Just love your fairy card and am very curious and intrigued with those copper colored flowers...will they look like when they are finished. Your desk looks oh so organized compared to my messy busy desk, but ah, we all have are ways to work! Hope you have had an awesome weekend...I am your newest follower and would love for you to become one of mine...happy hopping!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card. I also like the flowers - the color is so rich. April #175
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thank you for stopping by my desk.
Lovely card - I prefer it without the butterflies TBH - it is pretty enough in it's own right
