Hope your day going well.
At last yesterday I finished writing in all my Christmas cards - big sigh of relief :) So now that's all out of the way I can concentrate more on making some art and also on the stuff for our Steampunk Christmas tree which will hopefully be going up at the weekend. So this morning I finished a piece started about a week ago for this months fab AJJ challenge, the theme is 'Collage - but no wings, leaves or faces' and was chosen by the lovely Susi. I'd been struggling with this and maybe because the card thing is now out of the way it seemed to come together more easily this morning to finish off.
I started with some bits torn out of my hubbies wine magazine
and gessoed over some of the area but it wasn't looking good
and I'd no idea really what I was going to do anyway.
Added some paint and a little stencilling
and still no idea what I was doing.
Some doodling with black and white pens
but still not looking right.
Added more paint, stencilling, bottle cap stamped bits and dots and I think I have a fun abstract/doodled page that I am a bit more happier with.
Have a great day wherever you are
and thanks so much for stopping by.

That is great, Gill!!
ReplyDeleteI love how it turned out of the page with the snippeds.
I think it's your first abstrakt, istn't it?
Your collage is fantastic, love how it turned out, and the doodling and white spots give it a lot of character. Thanks for another fab piece for AJJ, have a fun day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThis i stunning. Would never have guessed how it started out but your finishing to it has made it very special

Wow - this looks GREAT! So many details and wonderful colors! On the finished page I never had realized that there were bottles at the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI would like Yvonne never have guessed that it started out with vine bottles out of a magazine!
ReplyDeleteFabulous that you didn't give up at one of the steps ...
it turned out as a fabulous kind of intuitive painting in the end...great contrasts depth and wonderful colors in it!
I am just happy that you linked it to the November theme Gill!
Great that you have finished with the christmas cards and looking forward to the steampunky christmas stuff you will come up with!

Fantastic journal page! I love all the doodling and the textures.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it just fun to sit and play........and wa-la ART!
It turned out so well. It can be difficult to keep going but if something isn't quite right to you...and you are lucky to be using mixed media...you can just keep working and adding collage and stamps etc...and eventually find a result you like. I enjoy that about mixed media.
ReplyDeleteSuch magic happened when you kept going, from the interesting choice of the wine bottles photo. I can see a glimpse of a few bottles at the end, but only because I know they are there. It looks great, and is inspiration to keep going.
ReplyDeleteLove how your page evolved from the original pieces of bottle photos. It looks fabulous with all the doodling and colours. I think you must have enjoyed your 'play' with this piece,
