Winter, Spring and Winter once again!

huh!...so much for Spring - Friday was wonderful- it was sunny all day and lovely and warm. We had the internal doors to our conservatories open and even had lunch in the one that overlooks the garden. The birds were happy and livelier than usual. I noticed some bulbs starting to bloom and took a few photos. Then what a contrast - on Saturday we awoke to snow and freezing temperatures again and although not much, it didn't stop snowing all day long.

So my page I made for Rosies Spring theme at AJJ isn't quite true  - not Spring at last.
It's suppose to be the bulbs popping up through the snow.
Page is a mix of watercolour paints, watersoluble crayons, white posca pen and a small little textured stamp. I used mini alphabet stamps for the words for a change as I wasn't worried about doing them in a straight line :)

A few crocus by my rusting Japanese lantern...
years ago I would have disliked rusty things but now it's quite the opposite and I love them

The Kerria starting to bud up

Some Wood pigeons were having a little canoodle
until one spotted me watching them.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend,
Thanks for stopping by
Gill x

  1. Yes, winter once again! But your spring page is beautiful with all the lovely bulbs popping up through the snow, and at last the sun will heat away the snow hopefully - at the next days!
My crocus look the same, but today hidden under much snow.
These doves are sweet - spring feeling :) and the one who looks back to you is amazing!
    Eine frohe neue Woche!
    Liebe Grüße, Rike xx

  2. Your "at last spring bulbs" page is wonderful! We have had exactly the same weather here.
There is quite a lot of snow again and temperatures below zero . I love your rusty lantern and the Wood pigeons photos!
We will have to wait some days for spring more I guess - but it is for sure round the corner! Happy new week ahead Gill and thanks a lot for your wonderful page linked to the Spring theme over at Art Journal Journey!
    Hugs, Susi

  4. I love seeing your spring photos Gill. They are sure signs that we will all get spring at some point. Sorry to hear your winter is also back-as is here too. Love your page. I do think it looks like spring bulbs poking up through the snow. :) Happy end of your weekend. Hugs-Erika

  5. Winter is not going anywhere fast. Your page looks so positive that we are into spring, I could be convinced it was spring and not winter outside. The page looks fabulous Gill and the photos of the birds look lovely.

  7. I truly wish I could relate to the snow, but we have had NO moisture in so long, we can't remember when the last time was. I love your bulbs popping up through the snow. I've had to bring water to my thirsty perennials and the birds.

I love how you manipulated the watersoluble crayons. Of course, the watercolors are a nice touch, too. This is a beautiful and well painted journal entry, Gill, and I adore it. I was quite happy that you shared it with us at Art Journal Journey today.

I had to laugh at the birds. Apparently they didn't want onlookers while they were romancing each other.

  10. We have a pair of wood pigeons that visit too, they always entertain us throwing the seed around & seem quite playful in their manner. So looking forward to Spring properly staying with us and warmer days x

  12. Love your painted Spring garden with the bulbs and that joyful sun, lovely blues and lime greens. I rather like your alphabet stamp set.
Yes wasn't it odd that the world was suddenly covered in snow again.
The Wood Pigeons are so gentle and loving with each other, we have a pair too. Apparently they mate for life.

  13. Beautiful page! I love the spring shoots and sunny skies - perfect! I'm wishing for spring too, we didn't get any snow but the cold temperatures are playing havoc with my cough (I've had the flu this past week but can't complain as I'm feeling so much better than I did ...lol 😉). Those wood pigeons have the right idea to keep warm too 😉. I hope all is well with you and Happy Spring! J 😊 x
