'Falling' for AJJ and (sorry) a quirky Christmas card :)

Hello

First a page for AJJ Poetry in motion  hosted this month by the lovely Jo from Lets Art Journal using a quote that seemed relevant for me ..

I used my watercolour painting and added some digital leaves and a quote. I often re-use my art - so these leaves were from an old journal page which I digitally cut out and also used to make a digi-kit.

After 3 weeks spent saving information from the digi-scrapping place I had been a member of since 2011, it finally closed on Friday with a number of us watching and joining in one last forum thread for the last 30 minutes until everything just froze and was replaced by a 'thank you and goodbye' message ...

To relax over the weekend I had another play with

Its amazing what was lurking inside this set of stamps
 - do you see what I see?
It's a cloud Christmas tree!

The background was made using TH Distress oxides and a little wall stencil from That's Crafty. Coloured the tree with Prima water soluble oil pastels. Added a little extra to the tree trunk with a black pigment pen.
Finished with some gold straight line peel offs for a fairly quick, clean and simple card.

bye for now
thanks for stopping by

  2. I love your journal page Gill. You really know how to paint shadows on those tree trunks, something I play around with and don't always get. The quote is perfect for that piece.:) And that is a fun holiday card. You are very clever to use clouds to make the tree! Hope all is well and your sun is back shining bright. Hugs-Erika

  3. Wow, I love you watercolour painting and pretty leaves, they illustrate the quote beautifully! I can see the relevance of the quote too with all the work you've had to do to save your software and artwork, I bet it was such hard work and I'm glad you managed to rescue everything before it closed 😁. It must have been sad to lose that network and it sounded fun chatting to all the friends you made on the site before it closed 😀. Your card is so wonderful and you are so imaginative using those stamps - amazing! By the way I love the little robin, maybe you could create one as a stripy jumpered burglar with mask and swag bag saying using one of those cloud bubbles saying "It wasn't me, honest gov!" ... lol 😁. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog, they made me smile ... lol 😉. It's lovely to see you at Art Journal Journey, thanks so much for joining in the fun again! Wishing you a happy week! J 😊

Did I see a cloud Christmas tree? - er, no. You're very clever at seeing such different ways to use stamps, and little bird looks happy there too. First Christmas card this year, I think!

  13. I hope you were able to remove everything you needed and wanted from the site that shut down recently. It seems a shame when things like that go out of business, but sometimes we must move on.

Your lovely AJJ entry is so appealing. It's a gem and feels so soft. I loved the quote, too.

You come up with the best things with this set of stamps you won. You could be one of their designers. I love the tree and bird that makes Christmas such a joy. Quirky it is and I simply adore it!
