'Falling' for AJJ and (sorry) a quirky Christmas card :)

First a page for AJJ Poetry in motion  hosted this month by the lovely Jo from Lets Art Journal using a quote that seemed relevant for me ..

I used my watercolour painting and added some digital leaves and a quote. I often re-use my art - so these leaves were from an old journal page which I digitally cut out and also used to make a digi-kit.

After 3 weeks spent saving information from the digi-scrapping place I had been a member of since 2011, it finally closed on Friday with a number of us watching and joining in one last forum thread for the last 30 minutes until everything just froze and was replaced by a 'thank you and goodbye' message ...

To relax over the weekend I had another play with

Its amazing what was lurking inside this set of stamps
 - do you see what I see?
It's a cloud Christmas tree!

The background was made using TH Distress oxides and a little wall stencil from That's Crafty. Coloured the tree with Prima water soluble oil pastels. Added a little extra to the tree trunk with a black pigment pen.
Finished with some gold straight line peel offs for a fairly quick, clean and simple card.
bye for now
thanks for stopping by
Gill x

  1. What a lovely journal page, and the fun Christmas card with the quirky tree is a great idea. Off to bed now, so wish you good night, hugs, Valerie

  2. I love your journal page Gill. You really know how to paint shadows on those tree trunks, something I play around with and don't always get. The quote is perfect for that piece.:) And that is a fun holiday card. You are very clever to use clouds to make the tree! Hope all is well and your sun is back shining bright. Hugs-Erika

  3. Wow, I love you watercolour painting and pretty leaves, they illustrate the quote beautifully! I can see the relevance of the quote too with all the work you've had to do to save your software and artwork, I bet it was such hard work and I'm glad you managed to rescue everything before it closed 😁. It must have been sad to lose that network and it sounded fun chatting to all the friends you made on the site before it closed 😀. Your card is so wonderful and you are so imaginative using those stamps - amazing! By the way I love the little robin, maybe you could create one as a stripy jumpered burglar with mask and swag bag saying using one of those cloud bubbles saying "It wasn't me, honest gov!" ... lol 😁. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog, they made me smile ... lol 😉. It's lovely to see you at Art Journal Journey, thanks so much for joining in the fun again! Wishing you a happy week! J 😊

    1. ha ha I wonder if anyone else reading this would get the burglar thing - that's a great idea though Jo - thanks and thanks for the lovely comment too :) enjoy the rest of your week xx

  4. Wonderful quote and wonderful watercolor - I like the yellow light behind - and gorgeous leaves!
Haha, you made a Christmas card out of the "Whimsical Summer" stamps - fantastic and beautiful! I think, nobody else is able to see what you see!
    Liebe Grüße, Rike x

  5. Just love the page and the fantastic saying-just what I needed today :)

Fancy seeing a cloud Christmas tree. Great to think out of the box as you do and inspire others with your ideas.

    Love Chrissie xx

  6. I am thrilled about the wonderful page Gill - so so beautiful ! Thank you very much for joining Jo's lovely theme! And your fantastic imagination had done it again! Another AMAZING make with Donn's stamps! You really rock with those!
So sad that the beloved forum you joined for so long time closed now!
Hope you could safe all what you need from there!
Happy week for you dear Gill!

  7. A wonderful page, and I love how you used the cloud stamp to create your Christmas tree!

  8. How do you do it Gill?! Funnily enough I've also made my little bird into a robin for a Christmas themed tag BUT I never would've thought of using the clouds for a Christmas tree!!! Could you be even more quirky than me?! LOVE LOVE LOVE this....can you guess :)
    Donna xx

  9. wonderful this journalpage with nice quote, fantasic Idea! The card is beautiful!
    greetings Elke

  10. Your water-colour is just great and I like the quote very much.
Did I see a cloud Christmas tree? - er, no. You're very clever at seeing such different ways to use stamps, and little bird looks happy there too. First Christmas card this year, I think!

  11. LOVE your cloudy Christmas tree!! Really fun to see how you use our stamps in such clever and creative ways! Thank you so much for sharing!! xx

  12. I love that quote about falling leaves Gill. Beautiful art work! The cloud Christmas tree is very creative.

  13. I hope you were able to remove everything you needed and wanted from the site that shut down recently. It seems a shame when things like that go out of business, but sometimes we must move on.

Your lovely AJJ entry is so appealing. It's a gem and feels so soft. I loved the quote, too.

You come up with the best things with this set of stamps you won. You could be one of their designers. I love the tree and bird that makes Christmas such a joy. Quirky it is and I simply adore it!

  14. It really is a fabulous page Gill, lovely words to go with the scene.
I love the Christmas card and that tree was a super inspirational way to use the stamp.
    Yvonne xx
