Fruits and veggies

Hello

Yet again the month has flown by with no time for real art but I really wanted to join in with my friend Rike  who has been the host for November at     AJJ theme fruit and veggies
I chose to make a page on one of my favourite fruits - grapes, which I love in both formats ...on the vine or in my glass :)
My page is digitally created using elements from various digi kits but the background is a photo of a mixed-media (paints and stencils) page I created some time back.

thanks for stopping by...

Fill your paper with your dreams for AJJ

I have a digital page today  for Art Journal Journey  'Polka-Dots, Stripes, Plaids  hosted by Erika of BIOARTGal
Sorry I haven't joined in more this month...
My craft room is upside down with a sort of organised chaos :) at present while I am decluttering* and  attempting to pack some less needed things away in order to make the room/house look more presentable for the time when we can get an Estate Agent in to value property. (*with the amount of stuff I/we have this feels like it will take forever ha ha)

My digital piece is made up of my own scanned geli prints and dotty stencil work, digitally drawn cartoon girl and then I added stitched flowers and other stitching all done using the software programme used to create the whole page.

all for me today,
back to wrapping and boxing up :(
....hope you have a great day...

Hello Springtime_3

A short post as I'm rushing to squeeze this in for last day of challenge where the lovely
Jo from Lets Art Journal  has been hosting AJJ this month with the theme of 'hello Springtime'

This time I have an all digital page made with elements from  Snicker doodle 'Daisy Chain' mini kit and 'Summers End' by KAZ

Lat week we had a lovely warm spring week - lovely and sunny - one occasion I even had a fan on upstairs as it was so warm. Today the weather has changed and the wind swung round to the north and it is windy and chilly again - but 'spring' is trying to fight back and the sun keeps popping out from the clouds :)

Thanks for stopping by today..
Hope you're having a great weekend.

Summertime Love

Hello

My page today is for Elizabeths great new theme 'Summertime Love' over at AJJ.
Summer to me means being out in the garden more and enjoying nature, looking forward to our annual airshow and the hustle and bustle of happy holiday makers down on the beach or pier where I live.

My page is digital as I seem to have done something to my index finger and having trouble gripping pen/brush etc at present so I'm a bit slower (than normal ha ha) doing things.

The background was created using a photo of one of my journal backgrounds with some digital alterations. The photos are of the Helter Skelter on our pier. The Seagull from a MCS kit. Splodges and splats extracted from some photos from my pages and also messy left overs and some pieces made digitally.

I did a couple of doodles on the keyboard I started to decorate in previous post before the finger incident ...

Todays pickings from the garden.. the French Beans are my favourite

The chard is ready chopped up for lunch today

Another useful thing in the garden - not for eating though.
This is our Himalayan Honeysuckle.

This is nothing like my idea of a honeysuckle,
its stems are more like Bamboo..

Could the stems be useful for other things maybe ..
I've got some bits of it drying - and wondering if they might work as wind chimes as they are nice and hollow. They also may be great to use to make a bug hotel... lots of ideas... but will they work... we will see.

that's my lot for today
Have a great week
and Happy Monday

Out and About

Hello

after saying several days ago that the only way to explain where time goes is that I must have been abducted by aliens - I couldn't resist making this digital page

I'm linking to AJJ where the lovely Yvonne aka Meggy's way
is hosting the fabulous new theme this month...

well it's yet another rainy and grey day here in my part of the UK and doesn't look like being better any day soon so I won't be out and about but up in my arty/craft room :)
... and its Friday again ... so have a great day and I wish you a fun weekend and better weather wherever you are.

Hope..... and a New Year Greeting

I probably should have finished writing this post before going off to have lunch and a bottle of wine.... (well only half, cause Dave had the other half of course!)  so I do apologise for any spelling errors and any slurred speech... :)
This is my last digital piece this year for AJJ and Valeries wonderful theme light and darkness
and the sentiment is quite appropriate for the New Year too.

For the last few days I've been thinking about 2017 and what I'd like to achieve.
I never remember most of any resolutions I've made at the beginning of a year, at the end of a year anyway, so don't usually know if I kept them. But next year ... I'm not going to say I will do blah blah .... but say I will try harder at any aims...
and maybe keep a better note of them and how they are doing ... time will only tell how that goes.....

Being better organised next year is certainly one thing I would like to be better at...
I've started going through my digital files of art and digital elements I have created over the last few years to make them into digi kits/themed files. I confess I got side-tracked yesterday and made this car to go with the other Steampunk pieces I had made some time ago.

So good bye for now ...
Thank you for your visits and comments during this year
which I have really appreciated.
Wishing you all the very best for the New Year

Sparkle and shine for AJJ and a message for you x

This probably will be my last piece for a few days so I will start off with a digital page for AJJ light and Darkness   theme chosen by Valerie.   The page is comprised of a couple of blended digital papers made from a photo of  Tower bridge, London and weird Christmas tree lights. ( I like putting my camera inside my tree and getting 'bokeh' effects). Additional gems and sparkles also added to page.

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing at this time of year,
I wish you and your families peace, love and joy x

Darkness and light for AJJ and last of the Steampunk ornaments.

I'm loving Valeries fab theme this month at AJJ 'Light and Darkness'
and really enjoyed making this page. I combined a piece of my artwork with some digital papers and digital elements from kits: The artists memories by G&T designs and 'A scrap of art' by Lynne Anzelc and added some digital effects. Finished off with some quotes.

And I think these are probably the last of the new Steampunk ornaments I've been making. Sorry photos not good but the winter light has made it awkward to get a decent image ..

The tree is a sort of iridescent and white but when the lights are on make it look various colours.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Indian Summer

Hello

Another week flying by and October is almost over. Today started misty but then turned quite sunny and a fairly pleasant temperature for this time of the year. Brighter days like today will hopefully make the winter seem shorter when that too arrives.
So for Valeries lovely Indian Summer/Golden October/Autumn theme at AJJ I created a digital piece using 2 kits by Lynne Anzelc called 'A scrap of Autumn' and 'Autumn returns'.

As always...
Thank you so very
much for visiting

Golden Leaves for AJJ

Hello :)
Here's another digital piece for Valerie's fab AJJ Autumn theme.
A few digital bits I made and the rest from kits: 'Equinox' G&T Designs, 'Autumn Delight 'ML Designs and 'fairy tale autumn' Daisytrail.
To be honest I have no real idea if its very autumnal here in the UK or not as I've been busy Christmas card making and various other jobs, but its seems pretty green around where I live and most trees still have their leaves.... hopefully one day my view will become golden.

The nearest thing to autumn colours around here was in the kitchen - my personal chef aka 'Dave the husband' :) was about to grill some peppers so as to remove their skins for a lovely chicken liver risotto he later cooked.

Well what was I doing why he was hard at work in the kitchen? I was trimming inserts to fit all my Christmas cards and also making some record sleeves for some old vinyl 45s.

When the weather hasn't been suitable to continue working in the garden we have been de-cluttering and this time we have been sorting out all our old music stuff. The British Heart Foundation charity have already picked up 240 LPs a week or so ago and I understand already sold £100 of them so that makes me very happy. We have another 100 LPs ready to go, along with stacks and stacks of 45s some of which needed new sleeves.  We did get a bit side tracked playing and keeping some records but it was a lovely trip down memory lane. I did discover one particular record sleeve that I'd doodled on back in 1974 - which looks very much influenced by a Pink Floyd album I have too.

Not sure what to say about my choice of music here other than its always been varied :)

Thanks so much for visiting today
Hope your day is good

Childhood Dreams

It's September and it means a wonderful new theme over at AJJ and this time the theme is 'Back to School' hosted by the lovely Bluebeard and Elizabeth
I can see this being a fun month and I just hope I can behave myself and not get a detention!

My piece for this theme is all digital and the photo is probably about 1902-3 and contains my grandfather in class. Not certain I would have liked to been at school during these strict times.
The digital items are from a Daisytrail kit called 'Back to school' and items I digitally created myself.

And I am linking my second piece, which is also digital to TIOT where the current theme is children. Made with digital tubes collected over the years and the words are song lyrics. (don't laugh, but I use to dabble in song writing many moons ago)

Yesterday afternoon I had another play with some new Pebeo Dyna paints I got recently and have tried using them on a t-shirt that had 3 small splodges of white acrylic paint on. I used a DecorArt stencil and moved it around a few times to make it a bit more absract than it was. Fairly pleased for first attempt. I have a black t-shirt to try it on next which should hopefully show the paint better.

Now I know it's only September (and the sun is shining here and its hot again) but I'm also thinking about Christmas.
Last year I spent the end of November and half of December making things for my Steampunk themed tree the one with the steampunked butterfly on top. With Christmas cards etc to make, I'm planning ahead this year. I want to make some more decorations for the tree, and have just found some lovely felt snowflakes I'd forgotten I had that I got cheap in January.

But for now I'm off to lunch, Dave has spent the morning making bread and lunch is 'Beef Oxford'.

Thanks for stopping by today

BALANCE........for AJJ Nature's Wonders

Hi everyone

It's the last day of August and that means my last post for Nature's Wonders theme at AJJ

so first I'd like to say many thanks again to Valerie and Susi for inviting me to be the guest host this month - thank you xx. My head was buzzing with so many ideas, I had a wonderful time creating things and seeing what everyone else had made as well - thanks everyone!
I couldn't go quietly so I have 3 digital pieces today to finish with.
The first piece I call 'A world full of wonders'.

I had an idea in my head but I wasn't sure how to execute it. So using my favourite software I first created the flattened edge, shape of the world in pale blue and then on top of that put the background words 'Our world is full of Nature's Wonders.... Beautiful and Precious' (font: Eutemia I).
But then I needed a stencil in the shape of 'the world' and didn't have one.... so I found a free image online that was just a blue and white. Then again using my favourite software I took out the white, which was the colour of the countries - so imagine cutting that out of paper and you would have a stencil. All I needed to do next with my digital one, was to convert it to a stencil and hey presto - when I used it on my page and filled all the holes (which was so easy) with real images they fitted perfectly to the shape of the countries.
The images I used were from a Serif cd. Then I finished with 'Precious' - which is just what our world is. (font: Cheddar Salad BTN Cameo Rev)

This second piece you can probably guess the title - it's called 'Balance'.

Top font is: Oyster Bar BTN and quote at bottom: Pie Contest BTN Cameo Rev.

... I used a photo of a background from one of my journals and then just added the rest digitally.

Last but not least, my third piece is for you to say a huge thanks to everyone who visited here and left lovely comments or created pages on this theme and linked to AJJ. I had a fantastic month seeing all your wonderful blogs and ideas on the theme and I probably sat way too long zooming in, as I like to see all the details close up - you made it a great month for me... THANK YOU!

I'm looking forward to the new theme
 tomorrow at AJJ

As always.
thank you for taking the time to visit
and for any comments.
Take care
Gill x
