Recycle and collage and a masculine moo too

It's Friday the 13th and a good excuse to stay home and make some art :)
I was going out to pick up a book I'd ordered but there's another one on the way so I may as well wait for that and pick up two at once.
Friday the 13th?? nothing to worry about - it's just another normal mad day isn't it?

Ok.. here's another piece for AJJ Recycle and collage theme hosted this month by Alison and again I used the cardboard from a cracker box as my page.
I used some remnants of homemade washi-tape and leftover die-cuts. I have a box of small envelopes full of die cuts collected over time so I used several heart shaped ones and inked and stamped on them.
Other materials used were:Neocolours, acrylic ink, TH distress stains, a small script stamp and a polka dot stencil with white paint.

And for Moo Mania and More  where the theme is 'Masculine' I have a little Moo size piece

I covered my little moo size card with a leftover scrap of paper that had ticket/map sort of theme on it, stamped the little stamps and coloured with gouache and added words using rub-off letters.

And even more recycling..over at  TIOT the theme is 'Recycle something' so I recycled an ice-cream container to use it as a container to hold my art journaling pens.

I also raided my scrap paper box and mini drawer of stamped tissue paper where I found one of a hand holding a pen and coloured it with gouache. I also used some postage stamps too.

Have a safe and Happy Friday the 13th.
And as always, thank you so much for stopping by.

  1. Wow, what amazing makes! I love love love your journal pages, your design with the hearts and Art references is perfect 😁. Your little Moo is wonderful too and perfect for the Masculine theme and oh, your ice cream tub makes me so happy with all the papers and postage stamps that you used. It's such a fabulous place to keep your art journal pens! We've had mixed weather here this week, sunshine and April showers, well sometimes rain all morning so I'm not sure I can call them showers ...lol 😉. Next week is meant to be sunny and much warmer so we have lots of things planned! Thanks sosmuch for joining us at Try it on Tuesday and wishing you a Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊 x

  6. Friday the 13th is just another day, but I'm not going to tempt fate by walking under any ladders or any other silly superstition.

I was very impressed by your art journal. You reminded me of some die cuts I was given one year, and I think I need to "alter" them, since they are not exactly my style. I'm so glad for the inspiration, and I am in love with this spread. I was tickled you chose to share it with us at Art Journal Journey.

Of course, I like your recycling efforts, too. That's a very clever and colorful way to cover the ice cream container, and a great container to hold your pens, too.

  7. Fantastic projects Gill.
The journal spread has a wonderful quote and it looks so pretty with the hearts.
I love how you altered the ice cream container to store pens, the stamps recycled and details look super. Thank you for sharing this with us over at Try it on Tuesdays.
    Have a good weekend

  8. You have been on such a creative roll on your last few posts Gill. I am with you, why go out to pick up 1 book when you wait a bit and get both-and not have to make 2 trips. :) Loving the hearts today-that is a really fun page. And your ice cream container looks like it is a really useful one-nice and heavy duty. Ours here are just cardboard which is good for recycling in the landfill but I don't know if it would sand up to a lot of use. That's nice recycling art you created with it. :) Hope your day was full of good luck and not bad. Hugs-Erika

  11. Yes, Friday the 13th was a normal mad day for me, I had no fear before.
Your recycling page is gorgeous! It is fantastic how you used your collected pieces to make such a beautiful page!
Your moo is a beauty too - so many details on such a small place!
What a great idea to make an artbox of your ice-cream container to collect your pens, and even gave the container an artful cover!
    Wish you a happy weekend!

  12. Love the page you made on your day in, just as the Moo made me smile too! I do think though, that best of all is the container for your Art Journaling pens - perfect for taking with you when the weather improves enough to take it outside!! Thank you so much for joining us at Try It On Tuesday! Chrisx

  13. I really like all your fun hearts and the pages (cracker box) they are on and your homemade washi tape looks terrific. What a great little Moo with boy things on it. Your stamps must be tiny - oh I just scrolled back for another look and there they are - all tiny. Nice work with the ice-cream container. Art pens are supposed to be stored lying down (instead of propped up in a jar like mine) so yours will be very happy and they can have a little snooze when they are not working.
