Inspired by Elizabeth and TH paper dolls

I've had a packet of those lovely TH paper dolls die cuts with all 'the found ancestors',  since last November and have just looked at them occasionally and 1) wondered what to do with them and
2) wondered who these people were, what were their stories and what would they think of times now.
Then the other day I saw a fabulous, humorous page made by Bleubeard and Elizabeth and was inspired to make a page for AJJ 'inspired by' challenge  (there are still several days left to join in this challenge).

So I used one of the TH dolls and sat him on the shoulder of my water colour on mixed media paper.
Also used white and black posca pens and black Stabilo all pencil.
I wrote a quote on hat; something I can imagine an ancestor might say.
Now I must think of something to do with the other 100 die cuts :)

And because  'Try it on Tuesday' has the theme of 'For the boys' I am linking to them also today :)

That's all for today.. thanks for stopping by...
I'm going to try and keep cool and out of sun today
as we have a bit of a mini heatwave..
hope all well with you wherever you are.
Have a great day
Gill x

  1. First, I was SO honored that I was able to inspire you. Yes, those TH dolls have a story behind each of them. They just need to be told. Your painting is fabulous. I'm super impressed, especially since I can't draw, sketch, or doodle. You managed to do them all, and I was so excited to see not just the "ancestor," but also the modern man. Of course, I fell in love with your background and the fabulous colors you blended together. It's a gem and I'm thrilled to have you share it with us at Art Journal Journey. I LOVE your theme, and I can tell by the number of entries that others do also.

  9. What fun Gill, your watercolour chap looks rather dapper. I know what you mean about those crafty items we spend far too much time looking and sometimes stroking before we take the plunge to use. Maybe your found ancestor sat on the shoulder is whispering "come on old chap.. use us up" into his ear??
Super written words upon his hat..!! Fabulous journal spread.
Hope you managed to find a shady spot today.
    Creative wishes Tracey x

  10. I wish I could sit on my ancestors shoulders and hear their stories, although neither your ancestor or the child on his shoulder looks very impressed. I love it, though!

  11. A fabulous painting Gill and I love the placement of the little boy - such a great quote too.
The mini heatwave that everyone seems to be having isn't quite reaching us on the coast and tonight we've got quite a thick mist rolling in, at least it makes for a more comfortable night.

I have a pile of "What do I do with this stuff?" but you took the plunge and put the die cut to very good use.
