WOYWW #193

It can’t be Wednesday already can it? Yes it can…
Happy WOYWW to you - and welcome - but if you are wondering what’s WOYWW? It stands for WHATS ON YOUR WORKSPACE WEDNESDAY  - the Wednesday blog hopping fun, seeing what inspirational things are happening on other crafters workspaces.
This has been kindly hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground blog..  thanks Julia.
Take a look at Stamping Ground  for all the details and to join in the fun.
Well it's total mayhem on my desk after enjoying a good swivelling around on my chair and knocking stuff off a little side table. There I was crawling around floor picking up cocktail sticks and all sorts, thank goodness lids were on the glitter pots. Bunged it all on the desk to sort out.

The white plastic tray in middle is the bottom part of a bread bin. In the top left hand corner of it is a clear flower soft container with cotton wool and cornflour which is my thrifty ant-static pad when stamping.
The blue fleece is being cut up to make the little squares to replace the white ones to use with my ink applicator.

Many thanks to those who mentioned last week, that they had successfully used the Pledge multi-surface wax in the same way of the Klear floor polish * which may no longer be available.
The two pieces below are using the 'caught in crystal technique' which has been mentioned a few times recently and using * Klear.
The top one doesn't show the detail that clearly but I will be using this on a card shortly.

Caught in Crystal
Caught in Crystal
I'd forgotten how to do this so used instructions from Craft Stamper magazine Oct 2009 and also there's a really great tutorial on fellow WOYWWer Shaz's blog.

'I can see you' digital page made using Craft Artist software
The above is a digital scrap page I created using some of my own photos and stuff I designed. Using photo software I also altered this to 'threshold effect' to get the black and white look.
I then thought if I could print this onto acetate it might be great to cut up and use on projects and colour the back with alcohols inks etc and also use the 'caught in crystal' technique too.

Couldn't stand the mess, so had a quick tidy up ready to play with the two inkjet transparency films I printed out.

Not sure what colours this will be and where this is going as yet...
typical of me LOL
but popped a piece of shaded card underneath and also the pink piece
of caught in crystal to see what it looked like.

That's my lots for this week.
Many thanks for stopping by and any comments left are very much appreciated... Have a good week.... Happy Crafting ...Gill x

  1. Hi Gill, Wow how Gorgeous are the colours and patterns in your CIC projects.
    They turned out Fab :0)
Love everything you have been working on loads.
Have a Great creative week x
    Heather # 62

  2. At least where I work on the floor the things have less distance to fall... great things you've been making. Helen, 2

  3. Awesome colors and projects! Love all the patterns too! Thanks for sharing. Vickie #17

  4. Wow Gill aren't you a multi talent! Your digi sheets look fab printed on acetate - I can see you having a lot of fun with this clever to be able to just design what you want!
Unlike loads of WOYWWers, I don't use the floor at all to stack store or work, so dropping stuff drives me were quick to sort it out though..impressive I must be honest!

  5. I am courious about this crystal caught technique.. your pieces look extremely good!
Have to check the link! Thank you...
and you are a bit similar to me.. I take every piece around me.. looking on it if it can be used fpr my crafting ...
    obsessed we are--LOL!

    Happy WOYW!
    nice to meet you!
    I will come back!

  6. Well ... I love your digital scrap page. That would make an awesome stamp. Am envious of your talent in doing this. It looks fabulous on the acetate and there is so much you can do with it.
A firat glance I thought you were cleaning up when I saw your picture - obviously some cleaning material (Klear) and a duster (fleece to cut up) but quickly realised it was all for CIC, a favourite technique of mine.
Happy WOYWW - Hugs, Neet 4 xx

  7. We're always knocking stuff to the floor, and for some reason it usually involves mini die cut letters that mysteriously melt into the floor when we search for them, hope you found all your dropped goodies.

    The bears @#78 this week

  8. you poor thing having to spend time on your hands and knees picking up your spillage as you say thank heavens for lids on glitter.
I love your digi page and would love to see that as you say with alcohol inks behind it. I love looking at your projects you give so much inspiration to others and that is why the award came your way
Happy WOYWW I hope you have a great day

  9. I knocked over a pot of the tiniest irridescent stars in the living room and I am still finding sparkles all over the house as they stick to slippers and spread all over. Trouble is I pick them up as I don't want to lose them all up the vacuum spout!
I love your caught in crystal samples and your digi art too.
    Jo x

  10. Gosh your digital scrap page is awesome, also you can use One Go floor polish works a treat.

    Happy WOYWW

    1. Not heard of 'one go' - always good to have choices if can't get one or other... thanks for that.

  11. Oh what a gorgeous desk, lots of crafty goings on there! Happy WOYWW! Karen 86 x

  12. That’s an amazing piece of digital work Gill. I’m not great with Photoshop but now I’ve taken a step back with my card business I might get more time to ‘play’ at it. Love the backgrounds you’re making too. It’s not a technique I’ve tried but I may just give it a go if the results look as great as that.
Thanks for stopping by this week.

    Happy Crafting!
    Sue @ 68

  13. Ah wow so many interesting tips...need to go back and reread..interesting stuff, especially your acetate, just love it!

  14. Love your digital scrap page, how clever you are do do that. Must try that CIC technique some time. Thanks for your visit. Happy WOYWW, Anne x #37

  15. So many interesting things going on on your desk this week. I love the CIC technique and your transparencies look great with it.
    Happy WOYWW

  16. The caught in crystal work looks fab.
Thank goodness the lids were on... I haven't been so fortunate in the past and no amount of hoovering gets rid of the glitter!!
    Happy WOYWW,

  17. Hi Gill - you have been busy! Your caught in crystal work looks fantastic - I'll have to have a go at that - especially as I've only used about a teaspoonful of my pledge! Your digi scrap looks amazing too - and a brilliant idea to use it in bits on other projects. Keep on being inspirational I'm impressed every time I visit. Happy WOYWW MM x #127

  18. Love the colours in your Caught In Crystal piece, its gorgeous. I shall make a note of the Pledge wax for when I run out of Klear, I agree its not something you see around much anymore, Your eyes were not deceiving you, by the way, I'm running late today! Great page, and I am so with you about cocktail sticks- they always seem to be the tub I knock over, no matter where I put them. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #129 xx

  19. I had not heard of this technique before, so I hopped over to Shaz's blog to check it out. I might have a go at it! So glad that the tops were on the glitter, that could have been a disaster!! Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and say hi, it's always appreciated! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥

  20. That caught in crystal technique looks brilliant. I know I saw it on a US blog years ago and it needed something which wasn't readily available in the UK so I never tried it. Love your digi work too. Thanks for stopping by today.
    Fiona x

  21. Wow love all your work. Especially like the 'caught in crystals' Anne x #134

  22. I know exactly how you felt when all those things flew over. One of my last cross stitch projects involve a lot of different tiny beads. I jumped up to get the phone and they lot landed on the floor and the tops were not on .... several hours later, you know exactly what I mean. That crystal technique is really sumptuous, such a rich colour. I shall be watching carefully to see what you are doing with your acetate sheets, I use a lot of printed acetate laid over the same image on card or paper to give a stained glass effect. Have a great week. xx Maggie #8

  23. Oh no! I am happy your glitter had the lid on it!! I tend to do that as well. Spin in my chair and knock things over!
Your digital work is amazing! Printing them on acetate is awesome! Can't wait to see what you do with that. And the crystal pieces look stunning!

  24. Swivelling around on the chair is fun but picking all the stuff on the floor probably not. LOL... Love your beautiful digital scrap page. Happy WOYWW! :)

  25. You say you can't sew Gibby, well neither can I that's why I'm doing the Alchemy course. The others are scaring me now as we get into the stitch sample weeks.
Mind you I can't do what you do either. I think you have a real talent.
    Enjoy your week
    Lynn //60

  26. Oh! Some lovely things going on here! Love that technique - haven't used it for ages but can feel a messy session coming on! Thanks for your visit, Chrisx

  27. Wow!! Haven't used caught in crystal technique for a while. I like the digi work too, perhaps when I get my new printer..... Thanks for stopping by, Happy WOWW Cindy #75

  28. Holy Crow! There is so much awesomeness going on I don't know where to look! I hate when I knock stuff off, or even more when I'm in the middle and one of my beloved felines decides to rearrange for me. Love those transparencies and love finding new stuff to use for old techniques!
Angie #144 or something like that...

  29. Lovely caught in crystal pieces. They look fantastic.
    Happy WOYWW

  30. Hi Gill, enjoyed seeing all the treasures you are working on today. I will be checking out these techniques you mention. I chuckled when I read about your mishap...happens to me all the time, so I've made a habit of when I finish with glitter or emboss powder, that lid goes on before I do anything else. Bet you can guess WHY! Your desk made me feel right at home, I loved seeing your works in progress, Happy WOYWW, and thanks for your visit at my corner of the world. My reorganization came to a halt today, while we went to the fitness center. When we got home again, I crashed in the recliner, so maybe tonight I can do a little more. (no moving furniture though! . Come visit again, and one of these days maybe I'll have it all tidy & orderly, and actually be able to find things when I need them. Hugs Mary H #136

  31. Cool transparencies! Love the caught in crystal #2. Happy WOYWW! Nan 5

  32. Love all the little bits and bobs. I'll have to visit Shaz's blog to find out about the Kleen technique. Loving the design on the acetate - very cool. Thank you for stopping by my blog.

I'll be visiting regularly! Have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing what's on your workspace next time :)

  38. Wow I will have to look into this technique, thank you! I too am always knocking things on the floor as I don't have a lot of space to spread out lol! It is great to see your desk and LOVE what you are doing! Janene #161

  39. The digital collage of your photographs and work is AMAZING! I like the way you did it in black outline format so that you can make transparencies to use in new pieces. Blessings!

  40. Oooh wonderful technique! I'll have to try that some time soon! Love love your digi page! I don't have a lot of work space too so you're not the only one bloggy friend! lol
