WOYWW #194

Good morning everyone...well I thought last week went quick but this week flew even faster… so it's time for the Wednesday blog hopping fun again ....known as WOYWW (Whats On Your Workspace Wednesday) all thanks to the very gracious Julia over at Stamping Ground… -thanks Julia x.
No idea what I’m talking about? Check out the Stamping ground blog for details.

So whats on my desk?

So last week I had some acetate on my desk that I’d designed on my p.c using some old photos and printed out to have a play with… well I have started but not finished with them as I got side tracked playing with ‘loo paper’ I altered a Nesquick container (it's at back of desk with butterfly on) and covered container with loo roll and Klear and made butterfly in a mould with loo roll too (see previous posts this week). I also started stripping surface off of some old place mats too as they are sturdy and look like they have lots of potential for something or the other. Also have little book mark unfinished too which can just about be seen in photo.
Lastly been digitally designing a grungey card ready to print out in pieces.

Close up of butterfly on Nesquick container - love the texture

Acetates printed out, added some alcohol ink on back - half finished card using it too
which has some micro beads on the left hand side of it... what a pain they are when they go all over the place LOL

My other little space with placemats, managed to punch through a coaster
to make holes for a ribbon to hang it. On the left a chocolate mould and some
more butterfly 'loo roll' thingies in it.

digital design ready to print and make into a card
used my own kit called  'Grunge en Rouge'

Well that's my lot for today, so thanks for stopping by and I hope to visit you too today (or probably over next few days)... Happy Crafting - have a good week... Gill x

  11. Hi Gill, I bet sales in loo role go up with your blog, the results are great, much prettier than the glaring yellow box. I have inked on the back of stamped acetate before, but never put it through my printer so you have inspired me to try - Thanks. Those little beads are they bedazzles? they have me cursing they have a mind of their own dont they. Thanks so much for your earlier visit. Hugs Mo x

    1. Hi Mo I used an inkjet transparency film that was rough on one side to print on but am running out of that so will be looking for some printable acetate next - unless maybe a bit of really gentle sanding on normal acetate might work... oops that wasn't the question was it LOL...yes 'Bedazzles' .. used them over a plastic tray and seemed that static was making them jump everywhere....grrrrrr... 36. I love purple and that purple can with the butterfly is right up my alley. Been using 'loo rolls' recently for all sorts of fun stuff too! Do you have to buy special ink for your printer to print on acetate? Thanks for sharing. Vickie #28

    1. Hi Vickie.. I used an inkjet transparency film
which I assume either is the same as acetate or very similar. It has a slight rough texture on oneside to print on, so I didn't need any special ink - just had to workout setting so the ink didn't flood it. ( I think it was on text/draft) I think a lot of craft shops stock more of these now and also ones suitable to stamp and emboss on to. ... Gill x

  37. Hi Gill thanks for popping by to visit me. I am catching up with my visiting tonight as I got a bit busy yesterday - I love the moulding with tissue idea! 38. It's always such fun to visit blogs where the crafter is doing 'altered' works. I have lots of friends who are into such, but I don't dabble...yet! I enjoyed the post about how you had recycled your container, and the neat supplies you used to make it into something beautiful. Loved the butterfly, and how you are working with the acetates & alcohol inks. Gorgeous. TFS

  40. That digi card looks really fab and I'm thinking loo rolls are toilet paper rolls? Well, whatever they are that is an awesome transformation of the Nesquick container. Thanks for stopping by my "desk" already and leaving me a comment...and, in my humble opinion, you're never late until the next WOYWW starts! :) Deeyll #159

  41. I am so excited to read more of your blog! I noticed the container straight away on your desk, and had actually forgotten about crafting with loo paper (you make it sound so nice!)...I LOVE the container and it's not just because its purple - an all time favorite color - or has a butterfly on it - a relatively new fixation. It just plain looks cool. I also really like the digital sheet I guess you printed on to acetate? Exactly what is acetate and how do I get my hands on some...of course then would have to create a master sheet.....but I digress.
Anyway I really like your work and look forward to see more of it. Thanks for the tip about stencil storage.

    1. Hi Sarah.. I'm newish to blogging and not sure how replying works and if you'll see this message, so I'll put a message on your blog too.
Regarding sheets of acetate - I was using an A4 sheet of inkjet transparency film which either is the same as acetate or very similar. They are clear, come in various weights and one side has a slight rough texture to print on. I originally got this online form a company called MX2 but not sure they exist anymore. Had trouble getting these ages ago, but seems that craft shops have them now and also ones suitable to stamp and emboss on too. As for the design, if you have any photo software, playing with the threshold effects gives this sort of thing. I use Serif software mainly.. Craft Artist and photoplus and also Photoshop Elements... hope this helps.. Gill x

    2. Thanks, thanks, thanks!!! Especially for copying your lovely response over to my blog. To be honest, I don't really know the protocol for this either...sometimes I just send an email, but I'm not sure the person really gets it. I am so intrigued by the acetate/transparency idea. I participated in Creative Jump Start this year, and Nathalie showed us how cool it looks with stamped designs on it as well. Now I have a MISSION!! Thanks again for the help Gill! See you on Wednesday.
