Parus major and first snow of the year

My last piece for  AJJ  'Animals from A to Z'
hosted this month by the lovely  Rike (from Rikes Art)

Parus major commonly known as the 'Great Tit' which is the largest UK tit  with a striking black head and white cheeks.
I cut out an image from a bird magazine and the rest mainly is using aqua pens, Inktense pencils and Brushos. Finished off page with a digitally added quote.

Woke up to first real snow of the year down here on the Essex coast.
It's not that much at present, but more and heavier snow forecast for next few days.
And as always, we are making sure the birds are ok and have plenty of food and water and the Blackbird gets his grape that he likes so much.

A good reason to stay indoors and keep cosy and warm
and do extra arty crafty things.

Thanks for stopping by
Gill xx

  1. A wonderful page Gill! So beautiful - we have many of them in our garden right now again and they take shelter of our chilly weather in their nesting boxes . So lovely to see. I have to feed 3 times a day now ( we have minus 18 degrees Celsius)and our bird's restaurant is absolutely popular here!
Thank you so very much for joining Rike again and support her with such a wonderful entry!
    Happy week for you!

  2. I love your page! They are such pretty birds and you have captured him beautifully on your page with that gorgeous background you created and quote you used - perfect 😁. I awoke to snow today too, not quite as much as your though but enough to have a friendly snowball fight with hubby ...lol 😉. We've had small amounts of snowfall on and off all day 😁. Stay warm and wishing you a happy week! J 😊 x

  3. Your page is absolutely gorgeous! A wonderful background for this beauty of Parus major!
First snow of the year? It's like here in the city, we have not so much snow as in the country near us, but we had more than once snow for this year.
    Your photo-collage is amazing!
Thank you so much for linking again to my theme at Art Journal Journey!
Wish you a happy day! Rike xx

  4. A great page Gill and I love the snowy collage. We've had lots of snow this year, but I think this snowfall is set to last a good few days. I woke to 'my' blackbird sitting on the step waiting to be fed his dried mealworms!
    Hugs, Avril xx

  5. I love the Great Tit on his lovely background. Brushos and Inktense pencils have made beautiful leaves and sky and I like the dash of dusty pink in the top corner.
I think you have had much more snow than us. We were promised "The Beast from the East" but it was more like "The Hamster from down the road". Maybe we will get better worse weather tomorrow.

  6. Its a beautiful page with the lovely words and wonderful Great Tit, they are welcome visitors if they come to our garden.
I hope you don't get too much snow, here in the NE we have a good covering and more falling now. Its quite pretty looking out and being warm in the house.
    Stay safe.
    Yvonne xx

  7. Love your page Gill, really beautiful. Ha ha I had to laugh about the blackbird and his grape :)

  8. I don't think my comment posted as I got a frowny face when I hit publish. I was saying how our weather is the opposite of yours. We started cold and snowy and now are having more mild days. Sometimes we have mild and snow within in the same week. And I love your bird page. Your great tit looks somewhat like our chickadee. It's fun learning about birds on the other side of the pond. :) Hope your February ends well and you are well too. Hugs-Erika

  9. You've finished on a high note. Beautiful page Gill! Love the snowy pics as well. <3

  10. I am back from Missouri, where I spent two very sleepless days and nights. After returning, I crashed. Finally awake and ready to co-host AJJ,

I don't think we get tits in this country, but they do look a bit like our chickadees, as Erika pointed out. I really LOVE your page. It is simply stunning. I am a big fan of using magazine images and this one put a BIG smile on my face.

I kept hearing you were in for a BIG snow. Yes, it looks beautiful, but cold. I hope your plants survive.

Thank you for sharing this lovely Art Journal Journey entry with us. I adore it.

  11. A beautiful bird for your journal page. I love it. We are also snowed in here in Wolves. I ordered a grocery delivery for today but it looks like he never got through..as he's an hour late so far. Maybe he'll make it?

  12. I love your great tit page Gill! I spotted one in our garden the other day.
Hope you have a good week,
    Alison xx

  13. Thanks for your lively comments on my blog! Our snow didn't last too long and not enough to build a snowman...lol 😉. We did go for a walk in the snow with our friends and their dog who enjoys eating and rolling in the snow 😁. It was Storm Emma that was worst with very strong winds which added to the chill factor so we decided to stay indoors. I didn't get a lot of sleep due to the winds which isn't good as I don't really function to well without my sleep ...lol 😉. It's much milder here today so I hope all your snow is thawing now. Stay warm and wishing you a wonderful new week! J 😊

  14. Gorgeous pages Gill, we have been feeding the birds in our garden daily, they seem to have such appetites at the moment. Definitely ready for Spring to burst forth now though x

  15. A wonderful page, love this bird it is a great piece ;O)
