Painted him using normal gouache.. ( I say normal as further below the paintings were using the acrylic gouache).
I'm going to link this to Moo Mania and More where the theme is flowers
This started off as a messy background followed by negative painting
for the shape of the vase with flowers and then further flowers etc added.
This was inspired by a wonderful video by Bob Burridge
I got carried away with this paint so will save some paintings
for another post but I did have fun just playing..
and I had fun doing an upside down painting as encouraged to do so by the lovely 'Sheila' aka Orange Esmeralda
Sheila said it was tremendous fun - and she was right!
ha ha - I think I might have painted this after lunch and after having a drink :)
thanks so much for stopping by
hope you have a great day...
Gill x
I love all the paintings you show today - my gosh - you are such a versatile artist Gill!
ReplyDeleteI love your Bob Burridge inspired vase and this acrylic gouche monkey is amazing ! And your upside down painting looks really as you had fun - so cool with the wild houses! And even an UfO landed infront of them!
Thank you very much for joining us over at Art Journal Journey and Moo Mania & More! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful support !
Happy rest of the week to you Gill!
Unfortunately we got it very cold again and much rain... so indoor time for me.
Hugs, Susi

Beautiful paintings, I especially love the floral ones. Have a lovely afternoon, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks like you have been having fun with both your old and new paints ...lol 😉. Your spider monkey looks so happy hanging around and wow, your flowers and abstract painting are so bright and cheerful reflecting the sunny weather we have been having of late! I love all the fresh green you used at it reminds me of spring, the new green foliage is glorious at this time of year, don't you think 😁. Your upside down painting is so much fun too, and I think your houses may be a bit shocked by the UFO that's just landed on the lawn ...lol 😉. Thanks so much for joining us at Art Journal Journey again and sharing all your fabulous creations! Enjoy the sunshine! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteI love your paintings and the colours of the flowers are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!!
Well, my advice is "keep drinking", because your upside down painting is tremendous. Who would have thought of houses like this with eyes and strong personalities. Imagine living in the one on the left and having to climb all these wild stairs to get to your actual home. And I'm not at all sure about the house second right either with the housey hands. Would they tap on your window all night? Or worse. The one next is defintely frightened and if your house is frightened then you're in trouble. I'm impressed with the communciations systems on the house on the right so, given the choice I'll stay there, and of course this house is the one that summoned the UFO. Maybe I won't stay there after all. It's a spooky night sky too.
ReplyDeleteI also love the athletic monkey and that great vase of flowers, like an Old Master Still Life. Patterns with the new gouache is so inventive and lively, I love all your paintings here.
ReplyDeleteI think the monkey looks so happy Gill, he's obviously well fed and content, its a fabulous painting.
ReplyDeleteI also loved the vase of flowers. The upside down painting has me smiling as the story that could be, whizzes around my head. That UFO will head off to its own world thinking what an unusual planet the Earth is and wonder why the buildings can talk and see what is going on.
Have a good weekend Gill.

A visual feast, Gill. What a great post!!
ReplyDeleteSince I can't draw OR paint, I am SO impressed with these two beautiful paintings. I can't decide if I like the spider moneky r the floral vase better. They are both stunning and well done.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else feel like someone is watching me from that third painting? I was a bit taken back by it when I first saw it, although it is a fabulous and fun doodle and paint page/drawing.
WOW, I was REALLY impressed with your upside down houses. They were great. I thought the shading was good, too. You truly ROCKED this technique.
Finally, thank you so much for linking to Art Journal Journey and Jo's theme.
Wonderful painted projects
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us at MOO MANIA & MORE
Wow Gill. I really enjoyed visiting your post today. The spider monkey is pretty cool, and I like his slightly tubby elly-that means there was lots of good fruit in the jungle. And you made me smile with those cool buildings. They would make a great children's book illustration or even story. Sheila was right for sure.Hope all is well and you have a super weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWow - such beautiful paintings!!
ReplyDeleteThere I can see very good the difference from normal gouache and acrylic gouache - they are more brightly, and now I know that they are drying permanent. Your flowers in the vase shine like neon light!
Your fun playing page is amazing, so many shapes colors and dots!
And I cannot imagine that you have painted theses houses upside down, so real and beautiful! Even the eyes are on the right place! It's fantastic!
Liebe Grüße, Rike xx
