Inspired by Modigliani

I often find myself drawing little Modigliani style people on scraps of paper because they are fun and it doesn't matter if they don't look totally realistic with their elongated necks etc - the main thing is it gets me practising drawing and also - its just fun to do. 

So my page for AJJ 'Inspired By'  was inspired by the artist Amedeo Modigliani. 
It's mainly watercolour and black pigment pen - drawn first in pencil and I digitally added the quote attributed to him.

 

and for Moo mania 
the theme is 'Arrows'
 

Background colours are gouache, Inktense pencil 
and a little watercolour. Used a couple of mini stamps too.

As its Moo sized it I've enlarged it so you can see it better :)

    Ah, wonderful, Gibby! 'Rosie' (an amazing journal artist) is often inspired by Modigliani - absolutely fascinating. You're right - it's a great way to practise drawing. I know your quote is explanatory, but those eyes do scare me... lol. Love the geometric background and the way you've portrayed her dress. It looks fab!

    A wonderful painting Gill and it sounds like you had fun drawing this Modigliani woman.
    It was a great quote to use with her as well.

    My sincere apologies for visiting so late. I had an internet meltdown that required a reboot from my carrier and a service repair person who actually came out and performed his magic to get me back online.

    I think your Modigliani woman is fabulous, and I equally appreciate the sentiment, too. It's a wonderful drawing and looks like something Modigliani might actually draw. It was certainly inspiring and a perfect entry for your theme at Art Journal Journey.

    Wonderful page, Gill. I like to draw variations of Piccaso's women's faces for the same reason. You really can't go wrong - lol.
