Inspired by a mug

Little things make me happy and trigger ideas, so today for my AJJ 'Inspired by' theme I was simply inspired by a mug... of the china variety and not a face :)

I drew and then painted my mug in watercolours adding some shadow with a Stabilo all pencil and finished with digitally added the words.

We have a few of these cheerful mugs in different colours with different cakes on and a dotty background and I just love them. Usually they have tea or coffee in and accompanied by a homemade biscuit or occasionally by a piece of homemade cake - made by dear 'hubby' of course not me :)

And if I lack ideas, I always find something
to be inspired by when walking around my garden

What inspires you when creating?
Was it something you saw or heard, a song maybe,
or a book or your favourite place,
a favourite colour, a memory, a dream, another artist,
or an art product  or something else ?

Huge thanks to all the lovely people and their wonderful pages
that have linked so far this month at AJJ with the 'Inspired by' theme
We're half way through June but there's still another couple of
weeks left for the challenge if you'd like to join us

Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend.
Gill x

  2. A cuppa in such a lovely mug would always make me happy and your page captured the happiness beautifully too 😁. I love the cake with the strawberry on top and the sentiment made me smile ...lol 😉. Your garden flowers look beautiful, I have foxgloves too whichware just starting to flower. I hope the weather has improved where you are, we've had a cloudy fresh day and the sun is just trying to break through as we speak 😀. Wishing you a very Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊 x

  9. I'm here to answer your questions, Gill. Yes, my nozzles are clogged and I can't seem to get them unclogged. Those are cheap (but NOT inexpensive) misters left over from ones I purchased.

I NEVER use tap water. I have tutorials sharing my technique:

    http://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/2015/02/you-asked-for-it-here-it-is-again.html

Here are my exact words I wrote about distilled water:
"A note about distilled water. Distilled water will last forever in these bottles, while tap water will cause the mists to get moldy over time. If you plan to use the entire container immediately, you don't need distilled water. However, if you plan to let this product sit for any length of time, as little as a week, in fact, distilled water is the way to go." DO USE distilled water the next time you make your mists.

I have ONE sewing machine. I don't sew normal "stuff." Even my quiltlets use torn fabric. I don't even own a cutting tool (one of those tools with a wheel). If something MUST be cut (like felt), I use my guillotine cutter. I use an 80/11 needle, and the only time I change it is when it breaks. I am careful about cleaning the "fuzz" out of the tracks and such, though. I may not change my needle, but I keep my machine as clean as possible. It works for me. Hope that answers your questions, dear.
