I started by drawing an image of a woman on paper and cut it out to make a mask.
I then got so engrossed having fun that I didn't photograph anything else until I had finished.
I used a piece of pale yellow A5 card to work on. I started with the stamped words having a rough idea where I was going to place the mask and stamped in that area. Then also in that area used a couple of stencils with TH 'marmalade' distress stain. The I put the mask on and sprayed around that with Cosmic Shimmer vintage mist in 'Egyptian Blue' and defined the outline with a blue Neocolor crayon and black Stabilo all pencil.
Added some more stencilling on outer edges and some white
scribbly writing.
That's all from me today
Thanks for stopping by,
Hope you have a wonderful day.

Super drawing/cut-out of the lady with the hat and she really stands out with the stamping and the outlining. I would never have thought of starting with yellow card.
ReplyDeleteShe looks good against the blues and greens.
A friend gave me a large stack of yellow and blue card that she didn't like - so I have to make good use of it and not leave it to collect dust :) xx
DeleteWhat fun! Loved reading that you got so engrossed that you forgot the in-progress photos.
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious you had a great time creating this, Gill.

Oh, this is gorgeous Gill! You always have the best quotes. I'll be pondering this one today. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous page, Gibby! Kisses, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the idea you got caught up in the art process and forgot to photograph the steps. You have NO idea how many times I've done that, too. This turned out great, and I even love the graffiti, as well as the wonderful woman mask. It's a genuine beauty. So glad you shared this with us at Art Journal Journey to day. It is perfect for your theme.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea that you drew your person by yourself ... and you got the DIna Wakley style - but even better - your version of her style! Perfection! I love your page and the quote tells it all! Happy Tuesday dear Gill! Hope all is well with you and you have much fun with hosting still....
ReplyDeleteI am so busy right now - sorry that I am so late for commenting !

Your page is fantastic! I am very surprised that you started with the (fabulous)quote stamping - then sprayed the color around the (beautiful drawn) woman - and did not ruin the quote :)
ReplyDeleteYour other details and stencilling are gorgeous!
Wish you a happy rest of the week! Rike xx
Wow, what an amazing creation! I love your lady and how you created the page, the colours are so happy and for some reason it reminds me of Mary Poppins, which makes me smile 😁. The quote is fabulous and is positioned perfectly too! We are having sunny days here with rain forecast tonight which my garden will be very pleased about ...lol 😉. Wishing you a wonderful week! J 😊 x
ReplyDeletep.s. sorry for being late to visit, seems our internet connection doesn't want to work at the moment ...lol 😉. J x
Wow! I love this! You've kept the focus on the text by outlining the mask and bringing the eye so naturally to what's within... amazing.
